Jesus said, ““You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.”
The Parish Church of St John the Baptist in Weston-super-Mare warmly welcomes everyone, including assistance dogs!
We support Weston-super-Mare Pride which is held annually in the local Grove Park, this year celebrating the five year anniversary over the weekend of July 28th and 29th. We welcome the Pride event with a service on the preceding Thursday evening at 7pm and on the Saturday afternoon from 12-4 the church is open to welcome visitors.
Developing out of the successful meetings to plan the Pride event last year we now host Rainbow Recovery Your Space (RYSE) on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month from 2-4pm. This is a safe space of support for everyone who feels on the margins, particularly for those in recovery from addiction; time to relax, drink tea and coffee made by volunteers from the congregation, gain peer support, play games, crafts, with an opportunity for quiet reflection. This is a developing ministry working alongside the North Somerset LGBT+ Forum.
Although not yet fully signed up as a member church we support the statement of belief of Inclusive Church:
‘Inclusive Church is a group of Christians uniting together around our statement of belief:
“We believe in inclusive church – church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
